WHYY opens new technology

Article Abstract:

WHYY Inc' Technology Center was designed for broadcasting digital television signal and other new multimedia digital technology. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that will provide multiple program streams for television, radio and the Internet. It has five multimedia studios and control rooms, a Technical Monitoring and Resource Center, a 48' by 27' studio with sliding doors and an Independence Foundation Civic Space.

KYW-TV's Beverly Williams in age/sex discrimination dispute

Article Abstract:

KYW-TV in Philadelphia, PA, was sued by its news anchor Beverly Williams for allegedly using her age and gender as basis for her removal as Weekend Anchor. Williams, who last worked as the station's Weekend Anchor in Feb 1999, still works at KYW-TV 3 on the 6:00 pm news. Williams' new contract is also said to be 20% less than her previous $200,000 annual salary. The parties to the case refused to comment.

WYBE-TV's GM Sherri Culver is shaking things up at station

Article Abstract:

WYBE Channel 35 is undergoing extensive internal changes with the entry of Sherri Hope Calver as general manager at the station. Gradually, the station is changing, with new sets for its original talk shows and a clearer strategic and business facility plan. However, there are some unwanted changes such as budget reduction from $2 million to $1.8 million.
