David D. Buchan (1939-1994)
Article Abstract:
Folklorist David D. Buchan is remembered for his extensive scholarly contributions to the field as a writer and teacher at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He studied English literature at the University of Aberdeen and also taught at the Canadian University of Victoria and the University of Stirling. Buchan wrote 'The Ballad and the Folk' and compiled 'A Book of Scottish Ballads' and ' Scottish Tradition: A Collection of Scottish Folk-Literature.'

Americo Paredes (1915-99)
Article Abstract:
Americo Paredes (1915-99) was a founder and former director of the University of Texas Center for Intercultural Studies in Folklore and Ethnomusicology. His works include the book 'With His Pistol in His Hand' (1958). Paredes received many awards, including the Charles Frankel Award from the National Endowment for the Humanities and membership in Mexico's Order of the Aztec Eagle.
