Archaeology and history; addressing some delusions about our discipline
Article Abstract:
David Lowenthal is right to be concerned about archaeologists' involvement with contemporary issues, but it is inevitable that the field's results will find a place in contemporary social issues because of the historical links of those issues with the past.Archaeology is both the testing ground of social theory and an investigation of the people of the past.

Article Abstract:
The study of archaeology has been affected by the creation of professionals outside academia. Few universities in the US have academic programs designed by archaeologists to educate archaeologists. Courses of archaeological ethics and the law are rare.
