Holly Pittman
Article Abstract:
Holly Pittman is the curator in the Near East Section and Deputy Director for Academic Programs at Penn Museum, who discovered her passion for ancient glyptic art through an unexpected convergence of travel experiences, job opportunities and field work. The two experiences, which proved pivotal in developing her career interests, namely the discovery of the impact of art and imagery while in Florence, Italy, and her informal participation on an archaeological project in Crete, are discussed.

Paleolithic archeology: the search for our human heritage
Article Abstract:
Paleolithic archaeology aims to understand the evolutionary forces that molded humans biologically and behaviorally. It is the responsibility of Paleolothic archeologists to reconstruct as authentically as possible the life of the first humans. It was during the Palaeolithic prehistory that the fully modern Homo sapiens appeared and the Neanderthal population faded out. Chipped stone tools and animal bones provide most of the evidence of Paleolithic life.
