Virtual antiquity: 3D computer magic puts you on the streets of Pompeii on a blue-sky morning in A.D. 79
Article Abstract:
The M.H. de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco will host a computer exhibit in September 1995 portraying the life of ancient Romans in the city of Pompeii in 79 A.D.. This exhibit utilizes the computer technique of virtual reality which gives a three-dimensional view of pictures. The exhibit has been prepared by the Virtual Reality Lab of the Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University and has been cosponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America. Virtual reality techniques are explained.
