Peter Palazzo is remembered for his sensational work on the New York Herald Tribune, probably the most dramatically innovative body of graphic design that helped fuel the revolution in newspaper design of the 1960s and 1970s. He expanded the very idea of basic newspaper journalism to include images created for publication, something considered legitimate for advertising and magazines but not daily newspaper.

Types of ideal color contrast recommended includes contrast of hue, light and dark, warm and cool, analogues and saturated and muted.

The redesigned version of Star Tribune's food section, Taste, which was aimed at broadening the concept of food pages to potentially attract all readers including the cooks, is discussed. Taste received many awards for its redesign including the James Beard Foundation honor in 2003 as best food sections of the biggies in circulation.
