Apple interface
Article Abstract:
The Apple Computer Macintosh desktop computer offers a user-friendly and easily understandable graphic user interface (GUI). The desktop GUI was pioneered by researchers at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in the form of the 8010 Star Information System in April 1981. Star did not succeed commercially, and the Macintosh was launched in 1984, following a visit by Apple founder Steve Jobs to the Xerox Center. The Macintosh is discussed in slightly greater detail.

Calming influences
Article Abstract:
The Salone del Mobile furniture design fair is reviewed, with focus on designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Ron Arad and Jasper Morrison. The Big Mama collection of armchair, sofas, pouffes and Kid bench by Massimo Iosa Ghini was one of the new innovations at the fair. The 'Rovine' exhibition of ceramic vases, glass and monolithic beds by Sottsass was also striking. The most successful design work at the fair focused on bridging markets.
