George S. Park published The Luminary, which had carved a niche for itself in the small Missouri River port town of Parkville just outside Kansas City. Mark Vasto brought the paper back into life by focusing on development and growth, actions of city leaders, profiles of local 'Luminaries' business-related issues facing merchants, school board actions and crimes.

The executive vice president and editor of Los Angeles Times, John Carroll, presents his views regarding the future of the visual journalism. He began his newspaper career in 1963 and went on to serve the Pulitzer Prize board from 1994 to 2003, being its chairman in 2002.
