Best public space

Article Abstract:

The American Conservatory Theater (ACT) received the best Public Space award from Interiors magazine. M. Arthur Gensler Jr. and Assoc. Inc. handled the renovation of the building. Gensler's three main objectives were to enliven the facility, make it appropriate for ACT's activities and make it magical for patrons. The 1,050-seat theater has become more spacious and features better sightlines. Other improvements include a hydraulic stage, costume shops and new lighting and rigging controls.

Best large office

Article Abstract:

Amerin Guaranty Corp. received the Best Large Office award from Interiors magazine. Gary Lee and Partners managed the architectural work. They crafted a sophisticated corporate setting that supports easy communication, flexibility and fast-paced work. Two workspace standards were established based on the 5-ft. column/window grid created by the building's architecture. Simple and unendangered materials were used to exude strength and endurance.

Best small office

Article Abstract:

3 Arts Entertainment received the best Small Office award from Interiors magazine. The construction of the office was handled by AREA. AREA created an environment reflecting 3 Art's solid yet free-wheeling business style. Sections of concrete ceilings in public areas were exposed to provide a sense of height and drama in the building. The carpet, upholstery and millwork throughout the office are emblazoned by 3 Arts' logo.
