GB Design sets sail
Article Abstract:
GB Design is being formed by Gabriele Bramante as a specialist medical design consultancy focusing on graphic, interior and product design for the disabled. The company aims to design healthcare products without a disabled look, so that they are even appealing enough for people without disabilities. Bramante will initially redesign domestic aids for the disabled, such as a bathing seat, in collaboration with design students from Ravensbourne College and Kingston Polytechnic. Bramante is also a partner in Design Shop Architects, which specialises in interior design and modern refurbishments, although the GB Design will operate independently.

Article Abstract:
The Fourth International Forum on Design Management, Research & Education held at the London Business School on Apr 8-10 1992 is reviewed. Increased productivity and innovation in business and marketing will call for a strategic approach to design management. Design management cannot be taught to students inexperienced with market forces. James Woudhuysen considered the future relation between design management and industrial production and the environment. University researchers also spoke about the means of diagnosing a newly-developed product's success or failure and the conflicts between marketing and design.

Third International Design Forum
Article Abstract:
The Third International Design Forum was held at the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore from Oct 21-25, 1992. It failed to exploit its Asian setting, however, and tried to emulate western exhibitions. The exhibits on display lacked innovation, particularly on the Japanese and German stands. The products were characterized by dubious practicality, high cost and matte black finish.
