Light winds

Article Abstract:

Jordan Mozer and Assoc's design of the Tempest, a restaurant in Houston, TX, features an innovative lighting fixture that presents a windblown appearance. The lighting fixture design consists of ceiling-hung copper cauldron-shaped bowls with tentacle-like glass spikes emanating from holes in the bowls. These fixtures directed the attention away from the ceiling-mounted light stem conduits and focused it instead to the acid-etched tentacles where light glowed. The result is an appealing, cost-effective and original lighting system.

Condominium: for his own home in a landmark building, furniture designer Charles McMurray uses classic forms and refined detailing

Article Abstract:

Charles McMurray's trademark sophisticated furniture complements the Charlotte, NC, Art Deco building he resides in. The upholstered furniture, the brown and white tabletops and credenza all blend with the few customized accessories to create an elegant yet cozy ambience. McMurray emphasizes the importance of lighting in eliciting a particularly desired mood. A white paint color, sufficient natural lighting from windows and halogen lamps that could be readjusted are essential for perfect lighting.
