Richard Saul Wurman's 'Medical Access' guides sold more than 1,200,000 copies. Wurman has been involved in a total of 56 books (to April 1992), in a variety of capacities including: writer, editor, designer and publisher. Other activities include three Technology, Entertainment, and Design (Ted) conferences, which are targeted at breaking down barriers between various fields. Wurman believes that information is power and his aim in life is to give the public more of it. The life and works of Wurman are discussed in greater detail.

Fresh marketing initiatives are giving Sir Terence Conran's Butlers Wharf apartment block development in London's Docklands the chance of success following the appointment of administrative receivers in 1990. With the aid of graphic design shop The Partners and marketing and advertising agency Collett Dickenson Pearce, accountant Ernst & Young has begun a refurbishment and sales initiative which will last between three and five years.

Mid Fair
Article Abstract:
The Fira de Barcelona Mid Fair furniture fair held Mar 31 to Apri 4 1992 is reviewed. The show was administratively an improvement on the 1990 fair but the low level of participation suggested it is not yet a national event. Disform exhibited an ordinary suite of chairs by Estudi Blanc, while one of the high points included designer Andre Ricard's official Cultural Olympiad chair for Amat.
