My Indy horror story
Article Abstract:
The editor of The Mirror recounts a horrific travel and stay at Indianapolis, where he went for a Society of Newspaper Design workshop. He relates how each of the planes he boarded for the flight to Indianapolis was delayed by thunderstorms. Subsequent to his arrival at Indianapolis, he found that the hotel room he had booked for himself was already occupied, and he was compelled to shift to another hotel. He had to stand in a long queue while checking out of the hotel, and the shuttle was unavailable as its driver had overslept.

Desperately seeking Sutton
Article Abstract:
An editor of a small Catholic newspaper laments the lack of workshops designed for tabloid newspaper staffers at the 1997 Society of Newspaper Design (SND) conference in San Diego, CA. The editor also comments on some workshops he attended at the conference such as those focusing on graphics and the Web, graphics design in the post-print era and the art of the simple idea. In particular, the editor asks why 'Design' editor Tony Sutton was not as active as a tabloid spokesperson at the SND's 1997 conference.
