Alaska Governor Walter Hickel won a major victory in the election because voters had no other choice. Since then, Hickel had managed to dismay Alaskans by using politics for his own benefits camouflaged by big projects. Moreover, Hickel claimed to be an environmentalist while promoting oil exploitation in Alaska.
