Article Abstract:

The quality of indoor air in offices affects the health of office workers, and is being improved by a new approach called breathing zone filtration (BZP) which uses filters to purify the air within the breathing zone of a worker. One of the BZF products manufactured by Ecological Ergonomics Environments, Ottawa, Canada, has electrostatic filters to remove bacteria, dust, nicotine, and metal and paper fiber and a separate filter to remove volatile compounds. The system also has a range of additional alternatives such as a thermoelectric cooling mechanism which operates without CFCs and lighting devices.
