Pulitzer plea: fighting for a spot
Article Abstract:
The Pulitzer Prize Board decided in 1942 to acknowledge the importance of news images by recognizing excellence in photography. Informational graphics is yet another aspect of news images which is yet to be recognized by the Pulitzer Prize Board. Examples of outstanding informational graphics are requested so that a petition to include such a category can be made with the Pulitzer Prize Board. Graphics from breaking news stories are preferred.

Miami Herald's hurricane Andrew coverage: The perfect storm
Article Abstract:
The Miami Herald responded to the devastating hurricane that hit South Florida in 1992 with a coverage that brought help and hope to the hundreds and thousands of people in the storm's path. The Herald won every journalism prize, including a Pulitzer, for its coverage of Hurricane Andrew and set a new standard for the way a newspaper is supposed to cover a catastrophic event.
