A river runs through it
Article Abstract:
The Hidrovia dam project in Paraguay is intended to alter the river system, thus allowing trading vessels around-the-year navigation, but such development will tax environmental and social resources. Further development would severely impact the environment as well as indigenous communities along a waterway that includes one of the world's largest wetlands. Open communication with the public and the government and cooperation from authorities would be positive steps in searching for alternatives that balance economic and environmental needs.
