Raising Arizona
Article Abstract:
The Arizona Republic first underwent a redesign in 1988 when it headlined the conviction of Arizona Gov Evan Mecham. This new design developed by Mario Garcia of the Poynter Institutefor Media Studies featured Times and Franklin Gothic typefaces with a 12-columngrid. Black-and-white photos also dominated the new design. Four years later, the newspaper has gone through another redesign with high-traffic color and a more visual appeal. More distinctive section flags and a variety of typefaces have been included in the 1992 design.
