Rainbow Babies' & Children's Hospital Cleveland: NBBJ
Article Abstract:
Rainbow Babies' and Children's Hospital's new building in Cleveland, OH, was designed according to the wishes of children and families in the neighborhood. NBBJ project designer Greg Wieland conducted surveys which revealed requests for electronic games, videos, big windows, nurturing spaces, quiet and comfort. Thus, NBBJ designed steel and glass windows, cut out ceilings, big rooms to accommodate patients and their families, kitchenettes, playrooms and laundry with the surveys in mind. The finished project was complimented by many children and their families.

Hospital expansion
Article Abstract:
Design firm NBBJ created a comfortable atmosphere for patients when it undertook the expansion of the Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, WA. The expansion unifies the hospitals wings and houses a foyer, gift shop, recovery rooms, examination rooms and administrative offices. A highlight of the design is the enclosed garden with a view of the Pacific coast. The glass walls separate the lounging area from an arrangement of stone blocks and topiary.
