Temple of learning
Article Abstract:
The Providence Atheneum library of Rhode Island is the fourth oldest public library in the US. The renowned 19th century architect William Strickland has tried to embody the building's function as a 'temple of learning' by using busts of classical figures perched at the top of library stacks.

The Paca House & Garden
Article Abstract:
The Annapolis, MD, home of William Paca, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, remains intact after more than two centuries. The elegant Georgian-style house was extensively restored in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It may have been inspired by the manor houses in England.

The renovation of an 18th century farmhouse in Woodbury, CT was undertaken by its curator-owner, Brian MacFarland. The house's interior was patterned after the Colonial era with modern conveniences which could be reversed to its original state whenever he wants to do so.
