Article Abstract:
Champagne derived its name from the region in France where the grapes used for making the drink had been harvested. A 17th century French monk, Dom Perignon, invented a process that made the drink bubbly. Later on, The bubbly drinks made outside of Champagne, France, are called sparkling wines.
