Article Abstract:

Knight-Ridder Inc's announcement to set up a laboratory for the design and development of a news product for a portable computer signals the coming of the high technology era in news distribution. Meanwhile, computer hardware already being developed can make production and distribution of news stories more cost-effective. The recent court rulings allowing regional telephone companies to provide information services is also ushering a new era for news distribution.

Oh, what a lovely newspaper war
Article Abstract:
The newspaper wars experienced by Britain's national newspapers 'The Times,' 'Daily Telegraph' and 'Mirror' have spread to Canada due to the birth of the national paper 'National Post.' The newspaper brought tension in the market causing other newspapers like 'The Globe And Mail' and 'Toronto Star' to improve their designs, pages, sections and staff. However, this war resulted in newspaper price cutting while adding value to satisfy customers.
