University of California Irvine Family Health Center
Article Abstract:
A remodeling of design and construction was undertaken for the University of California Irvine Family Health Center by Lee, Burkhart, Liu. The reconstruction entailed the creation of a modern-looking, spacious health facility. It features registration offices with built-in seats finished with ceramic tiles, procedure rooms with curtained glass panels to facilitate observation, a three-sided signage unit that keep patients informed and oriented while in the waiting area, a pharmacy, a playroom for children and rooms for health lectures and community services.

Health center
Article Abstract:
The thriving three-story, 147,000-sq-ft ambulatory care facility in Dayton, Ohio was a joint venture of Earl Swensson Associates and Samaritan North Health Center. The mall-modelled building was constructed in a way that allows visitors and patients to readily see the central registration, cafe, pharmacy and diagnostic testing area. The use of warm handmade brick on the cafe's interior wall complements the cherrywood detailing of the railing cap. The facility is 'bedless' and boasts of employees who highly regard teamwork and customer satisfaction.
