Weather? Just forget about it!
Article Abstract:
A deputy managing editor suggests that newspapers should get out of the business of publishing news forecasts and focus on publishing stories about the weather. Radio, television and the Internet provide instant and timely access to weather data while newspaper weather forecasts are hours-old, rendering them useless to readers. Thus, newspapers will be doing their readers a great service if they focus on articles that explain certain weather phenomena, environmental pieces and historical data that will be of use to the immediate locale.

Marketing directors on the prowl
Article Abstract:
A humorous anecdote about the marketing director's dubious job of explaining the modern newspaper to potential advertisers is used as a take-off point for a light-hearted look at the future of the Web. The argument made is simple: newspapers will soon be made redundant by the emergence of online news providers that combine the user-friendliness of the computer with the flashiness of television. While the scenario painted may be a bit extreme, it is fairly plausible given the rapid pace of change on the Internet.
