Article Abstract:
The historiography of dance theory and criticism involves a complex process of categorical investigation. This process must address varying perceptions, assumptions, interpretations, aesthetic ideals and cultural significance. It must also evaluate the sociopolitical framework of traditions, and the evolution of dance as an expression of these traditions and a medium for creating new ones.
