Aquavit

Article Abstract:

Hakan Swahn, owner of Aquavit, the celebrated upscale Scandinavian restaurant on Manhattan's West 54th Street is entirely furnished with Scandinavian furniture and lighting the new interior draws inspiration from great spaces of architects such as Arne Jacobsen of Denmark and Alvar Aalto of Finland. In Aquavit, furniture, lighting texture and a variety of natural materials are used to warm the deliberately spare and restrained interior and to heighten drama while providing a comfortably human scale.

A taste of the fifties: A Caracas cafe

Article Abstract:

The capital city of Caracas, was building with young architects, both Venezuelan and foreign-born, who were experimenting with new modern design, A joint project of one of the cafe's owner's architect Juan Carlos, Perez Febres, who served as contractor and architect Alejandro Barrios, who was responsible for the interior design the renovation honors the building's style and the era from which it arose, with relatively little intervention.

On the Fairway: A Palm Springs retreat

Article Abstract:

William Cody designed the 1969 Morris House along with interior designer Richard Himmet, like many Palm Springs home of the period, on a Tamarisk Country Club golf course. Some of the clubs and number of other residences designed on the grounds, including a compound for Frank Sinatra is described.
