Just passing through
Article Abstract:
Marysville, CA, population 12,000, seems to have had 150 years of bad luck. Once it was a rowdy gateway to the gold fields and it was the place where in 1969 bodies of those murdered in the worst mass-murder in US history at that time were found. Photographer Arne Svenson, author of the book 'Prisoners,' has described it as a town on hold waiting for something good to happen. Svenson has discovered 1500 glass-plate negatives that include 500 of prisoners arrested in Marysville, 1900-08. They were made by Clara Smith and tell a story of the past in this town named for a Donner party survivor.

Northern under-exposure
Article Abstract:
The marketing of the 50th anniversary of the Alaska highway has been a bust in Alaska. Some advertisers, such as General Motors Corp, did not participate in the event because of financial reasons, while others, such as Coca-Cola Co, passed up the event because of small size of the Alaska market. In contrast, Canadian Sponsorship Network, the firm assigned the task of finding corporate sponsor for the Canadian segment of the highway, has sold sponsorships worth about $1 million.
