Poster boy: Edward Mcknight Kauffer in Britain
Article Abstract:
The talented American-born graphic designer, Edward McKnight Kauffer was celebrated as the most brilliant poster artist of his time, an inspiration to major post-World War II designers on both sides of the Atlantic in Britain. After his death, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London mounted a memorial exhibition, was sorely lamented in Britain by his literary and artistic friends.

An exhibition titled "Albers and Moholy-Nagy: From Bauhaus to the New World" is being held through January 21, 2007, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Some of the exhibits include the abstracts and technical innovations of two pioneers of 20th-century Modernism, Josef Albers (1888-1976) and Laszio Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) at the Bauhaus and their work in the U.S.

Herbert Bayer beyond the Bauhaus
Article Abstract:
Herbert Bayer, a graphic designer produced paintings, photographs, sculptures, earthworks, site plans and buildings exemplified the principles promoted by the Germany's Bauhaus, the progressive art and design school that could improve the human condition. He followed the key Bauhaus goal of unifying all the arts into a single expression that he called 'total design'.
