A symposium honoring dancer Rudolf Nureyev on what would have been his 60th birthday was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, in Mar 1998. The 2-day symposium included speeches by prominent dancers and teachers detailing Nureyev's career at the Kirov and New York City ballet companies. Nureyev's techniques in dance and choreography, his performing spirit, and relationships with colleagues were recounted.

Lubov Blok

Article Abstract:

Lubov Mendeleeva-Blok is best remembered by most of the scholars of Russian literature as a muse of Aleksandr Blok, his unhappy, and unfaithful wife. Blok became the first Russian woman to become a dance historian after she wrote 'The Origin and Development of the Technique of Classical Dance: An Attempt at Systematization'.
