Vodou carnival
Article Abstract:
A Haitian carnival held in Feb 1991 combined political celebration with traditional Voodoo religion as documented by Maya Deren in the 1940s. Political figures were represented by marchers, and obscene effigies ridiculed deposed tyrants, along with popular songs. Religious figures included zombies, chaloskas monsters and the entity Guede who presides over the triumph of carnival.

The practice of writing for mass publication has evolved into a system of multiple ghostwriting procedures. The reliance on ghostwriting has become so pronounced that there is no longer any stigma attached to the practice and celebrities who intimate they wrote their own books are scoffed at.
