A turnover of around 80 representatives and senators in Congress is expected because of retirement or failure to get reelected. More optimistic estimates figure around 150 new names and faces in Washington in 1993,which could mean major policy and attitude changes toward space technology projects.

Article Abstract:

Members of the US Congress voted to continue development of the space station program. The decision was won by only a one vote margin. Future support for similar space programs would ultimately depend on the support of the general public.

Settling on symbols

Article Abstract:

Congress's professed goal of establishing space settlements has been largely forgotten. This can change if Congress decides to allocate a larger share of the NASA budget to future space exploration programs.
