The Houston, TX, based Almaz Corp's operations have been adversely affected by the economic problems in Russia. The Almaz 1A remote sensing satellite is operated by a former Soviet ministry. Almaz projects recovery by 1992, but competition is expected from European and Japanese satellite data industries.

Loral snares Russian satellite thrusters
Article Abstract:
Space Systems/Loral Inc had recieved two imported Russian electric satellite thrusters to be utilized in the future manufacturing of next-generation communication satellites. Additionally, Space Systems/Loral Inc gained government approval to export related space electronics to Russia.

ITA signs shuttle deal

The Instrumentation Technology Assn (ITA) signed an agreement in Dec 1991 to provide minilabs for NASA's research flights. The ITA will commercially market space on these flights to domestic and international customers.
