Space settlement: realism of fantasy?

The establishment of settlements in space can become a reality if scientists can overcome the immense political obstacles which prevent them from accomplishing this otherwise technically feasible task. Space exploration holds the promise of providing humanity with large amount of yet untapped material and energy resources.

The spectacular success of Project Apollo was multidimensional and the mission began the human exploration of the solar system. There will be no second Apollo mission but the assumption of Dan Goldin as NASA administrator has given a fresh impetus to the idea of space colonies including a lunar base.

The winds are still asleep
Article Abstract:
The feasibility of space as a relocation site for solving the overpopulation problem of the earth remains a farfetched dream. Placing a million people in orbit, along with the support infrastructure, is not a practical idea. A more workable idea is to convert Antarctica into a livable place.
