Earth's evil twin, Venus, is a better choice for terraforming, which means using massive solar shades, removing or converting the existing atmosphere and directly applying nanotechnology through engineering methods. The floating cities of Venus will call as a safe haven for migrating humanity.

Terraforming: Human destiny or hubris?
Article Abstract:
Terraforming tirades seem to swirl solely around Mars and the asteroids are much easier to work with. Therefore, Terra's vast mass and complex biosphere will adapt to human-induced alteration in a manner that is ultimately favorable to the entire biosystem, if not for humans.
