2005 Volvo V50

2005 Volvo V50 which is replacing V40 is being presented in two combinations, one is the T5 AWD with a 218-hp, 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine; and the other is a 2.0 liter diesel supplied by Peugeot that will be offered in the U.S. To Volvo what matters is versatility rather than capacity.

Aftermath at Lotus

Article Abstract:

The Elan failed to capture a large part of the US market when it debuted in 1991, as a result of the Mazda Miata. The Miata undercut the $39,000 price of the Elan, and Lotus Cars Ltd lost money on the the 3,857 cars sold out of an expected 6000.

Fiat moved its Maserati brand away from Ferrari and made Alfa Romeo brand its next partner to build a range of premium cars to challenge BMW. Maserati plans to cut costs while keeping quality intact to turn a profit in 2007.
