The $50,246 540i replaces the 535i model, but the 32-valve V-8 engine of the 540i makes it only slightly faster than the 535i. Driving performance is still impressive, complemented by a smooth five-speed transmission. Ergonomic design is excellent.

The $59,089 XM is a five-passenger sedan equipped with a 12-valve V-6 that delivers 168 horsepower. Handling is good, although the standard four-speed automatic transmission tends to be harsh. The interior is luxurious amd comfortable.
