Chilean Eliseo Salazar has won the Las Vegas 500k auto race despite an injury-plagued career capped by a broken back in 1997. The pleasure of winning an entertaining race more than made up for the Salazar's physical ailments.

Champ cars return to Del Mar...and bring history with them
Article Abstract:
The Del Mar 100 in Southern California was participated by several vintage racing cars also known as Champ Cars. The event may not have been a great race, but spectators were treated to what seemed to be 60 years of racing.

The National Assn for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) marks its 50th year in 1998. NASCAR, which was incorporated in Feb 1948, was established by auto mechanic Bill France and partners to legitimize stock car racing.
