The Mingun pagoda is praised as the jewel in the ambitious building campaign of King Bodawpaya, and the legend that the pagoda was left unfinished by a despotic ruler unable to meet the demands of the huge construction project debunked. This Burmese ruler ruled during the late 18th and early 19th century.

Fully functioning American-made cars made in the 1950s are a common site in Cuba where shipments of American auto parts have not been seen since the trade embargo was imposed in 1961. Regardless of the embargo, Cubans have kept their cars running through a combination of necessity and ingenuity.

Black, white, colored, and Indian citizens in South Africa now eat at the same restaurants, but there are still numerous problems left over from apartheid. Power sharing among the Nationalists, the African National Congress and other groups will be necessary. These issues are analyzed.
