Software restructuring
Article Abstract:
Software restructuring is a process of software modification designed to make software easier to understand, use, maintain and change, and less prone to error when subsequent changes are made. A hierarchy of factors that influence the perception of software structure, ranging top-down is environment, management policies, software engineers, programming environment tools, documentation and code. Restructuring should target locally defined goals related to perceived value of the software. Categories of software restructuring techniques affect five factor levels: code, documentation, programming environment tools, software engineers and management policies. Exemplifying restructuring techniques for each level are described. A case study of the use of Language Technology's RECODER COBOL restructuring tool by the Defense Logistics Agency of Columbus, OH is described.

The mechanism of ACV synthetase
Article Abstract:
Many new antibiotics have been developed but penicillins and cephalosporins still have considerable clinical use. Extensive studies have revealed a clear picture of the enzyme catalyzed steps involved in the biosynthesis of penicillins and cephalosporins. The initial step in the biosynthesis of penicillin, involves the biosynthesis of L-sigma-(alpha-aminoadipoyl)-L-cysteinyl-D-valine (ACV). The reactions catalyzed by ACV synthetase and its primary structure are discussed.
