Fantasy-car factories in Guangdon, a province in southeast China dedicated to light industry are building cars toys and models that are sold at Wal-Mart. The high-volume model-car factories such as Maisto employs 10,000, assembles a line of remarkably detailed 1/18- and 1/43- scale model cars that sell worldwide under the Gate, AUTOart, and UT Models brand names.

The Tankrod is a 21-foot aluminum-bodied roadster on Goodyear garbage-truck tires with two cozy seats created by Randy Grubb, a glass artist from Grants Pass, Oregon. It has an aluminum air-cooled 1792-cubic inch V-12 engine making 810 horsepower and 1590 pound-feet of torque.
