Aerodynamic designs of Winston Cup race cars are watched very closely within the industry because the slightest design modification will alter a car's performance significantly. A new design on the Pontiac Grand Prix led to a new controversy over aerodynamic designs within NASCAR members.

Robby Gordon's experience during the 1997 Indianapolis 500 and the demise of his relationship with team owner Felix Sabates are detailed. Gordon suffered methanol burns early in his first Indy race due to catastrophic fuel system damage.
