A cosmid specific for sequences encoding a microtubule-associated protein, MAP1B, contains a polymorphic microsatellite and maps to bovine chromosome 20q14
Article Abstract:
A clone for the bovine gene MAP1B was extracted from a bovine cosmid library with a probe acquired through cross-species PCR. The single positive cosmid clone was located in the chromosome region 20q14. Examination of the cosmid showed the presence of a microsatellite motif with a two-allele polymorphism which was observed through PCR amplification of genomic DNA. However, there was no very close linkage of the phenotype for bovine SMA with MAP1B.

Cytogenetic, ras, and p53: studies in cases of canine neoplasms (hemangiopericytoma, mastocytoma, histiocytoma, chloroma)
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze case reports of mesenchymal neoplasms supporting chromosomal abnormalities. Primary explant cell cultures were determined by mincing solid tissues into fragments. The fragments were then put into flasks with L-glutamine, antibiotics and fetal calf serum. Synthetic oligonucleotide primers were utilized to amplify K and H-ras sequences. In addition, DNA was obtained from tumor samples using conventional methods.

The thick tail mutation contains anomalies of the axial skeleton
Article Abstract:
Gene analysis in the axial skeleton has widened understanding of how skeletogenic events occur, with recent work indicating that temporal and positional factors are important in axial development. An analysis of the radiation-induced mutation, thick tail in mice, shows several oddities in the axial skeleton and reveals that the thick tail gene may function during the formation of cartilage and bone structures.
