Analysis of the sulfate-reducing bacterial and methanogenic archaeal populations in contrasting Antarctic sediments

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on sulfate-reducing bacteria and methanogenic archaea communities. The authors describe their study of activity and distribution of these communities in contrasting Antarctic sediments carried out via the use of traditional process methods, molecular techniques and sediment slurry microcosms.

Microbiological evaluation of a range of disinfectant products to control mixed-species biofilm contamination in a laboratory model of a dental unit water system

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on dental unit water system containing multispecies biofilms. The authors describe the use of biofilm laboratory model for stimulation of dental unit water system's biofouling to evaluate microbial decontamination.

Isolation of a methanogen from deep marine sediments that contain methane hydrates, and description of Methanoculleus submarinus sp. nov

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on methanogen from deep marine sediments containing methane hydrates. The authors have isolated this methanogen and have proposed the name Methanoculleus submarinus for this organism.
