Biochemical and genetic characterization of an extracellular protease from Pseudomonas fluorescens CY091

Article Abstract:

Pseudomonas fluorescens CY091 is found to produce an extracellular protease, AprX, which is needed to cause spoilage in milk and possibly in dairy products. The biochemical properties of the protease were examined, demonstrating that a protease-negative Tn5 mutants of strain CY091 was unable to cause gelation of raw milks, affirming the previous suggestion that the protease is the main factor responsible for the spoilage caused by P. fluorescens.

Root exudate-induced promoter activity in Pseudomonas fluorescens mutants in the wheat rhizosphere

Article Abstract:

Experimental studies indicate that wheat root exudate induces beta-galactosidase activity in various Tn5-B2O transcriptional fusion mutants of Pseudomonas fluorescens. Proline induces reporter gene expression in a mutant RIWE8, which exhibits in situ promoter activity in Flevo silt loam soil amended with proline. Organisms with rhizosphere-controlled beneficial genes can be designed using the promoter activity in RIWE8.

Secondary metabolites help biocontrol strain Pseudomonas Fluorescens CHA0 to escape protozoan grazing

Article Abstract:

The interaction between the root-colonizing and biocontrol strain Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0 and three different protist isolates is analyzed. Results revealed that protists cannot be grown on CHA0 but could multiply on isogenic regulatory mutants that do not produce the extracellular metabolites.
