Characterization of poly-gamma-glutamate hydrolase encoded by a bacteriophage genome: possible role in phage infection of Bacillus subtilis encapsulated with poly-gamma-glutamate

Article Abstract:

The authors have investigated glutamate capsular polypeptide with gamma-linkage, poly-gamma-glutamate, produced by Bacillus subtilis. The poly-gamma-glutamate hydrolase from the bacteriophage in B. subtilis has been purified, and the results demonstrate that this bacteriophage breaks down poly-gamma-glutamate barrier by means of poly-gamma-glutamate hydrolase.

Intraspecies polymorphism of Cryptosporidium parvum revealed by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and RFLP-single-strand conformational polymorphism analyses

Article Abstract:

The authors have investigated Cryptosporidium parvum glycoprotein-encoding gene. The use of this gene for identification and gene fingerprinting of C. parvum isolates via PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism-single-strand conformational polymorphism and PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism methods is described.
