Induction of a futile Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway in Deinococcus radiodurans by Mn: possible role of the pentose phosphate pathway in cell survival

Article Abstract:

Manganese may increase the sensitivity of Deinococcus radiodurans to radiation by inducing the Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway for glucose metabolism. Mn-exposed cells incorporated less glucose into DNA when exposed to UV light and were also more sensitive to UV light.

Characterization of the minimal replicon of a cryptic Deinococcus radiodurans SARK plasmid and development of a versatile Escherichia coli-D: radiodurans shuttle vectors

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that a minimal replicon of 2.6 kilobase is capable of auonomous replication in Deinococcus radiodurans. Data also show that the replion can be used to construct a shuttle vector for shuttling between Escherichia coli and D. radiodurans and to express lacZ reporter gene by fusing it to promoters.

Molecular characterization of functional and phylogenetic genes from natural populations of methanotrophs in lake sediments

Article Abstract:

Research is conducted on the development of methanotroph 16S rRNA and pmoA sequences database for a lake sediment. Molecular tools for studying methanotrophs in freshwater reservoirs are discussed.
