Childhood overweight problem in a selected school district in Hawaii

Article Abstract:

Anthropometric data in a Hawaiian school district between 1992 and 1996 show clear indications of overweight children and adolescents with Hawaiian ancestry. Compared to the National Health and Nutrition Examinations Surveys, there are twice as many Hawaiian- and non-Hawaiian-ancestry boys and girls from this school district classified as obese.

Mitochondrial DNA and Y chromosome diversity and the peopling of the Americans: evolutionary and demographic evidence

Article Abstract:

Important information of the peopling of the New World, gained through molecular genetic studies of Siberian and Native American populations is presented. The studies show that several generalizations are made, as there is no complete agreement on the interpretation of data of the mitochondrial DNA and Y-chromosomes.
