Chloride ATPase pumps in nature: do they exist?
Article Abstract:
This review discusses the different types of chloride pump, their function and regulation. Research indicates that in animal tissues the active chloride transport is primary in nature and that the active translocation of chloride by ATPase chloride pump is similar to those in plants. Demonstration of a reconstitutable and phosophorylation of chloride ATPase provides the first evidence for the existence of the chloride pump.

From the ER to the Golgi: insights from the study of combined factors V and VIII deficiency

ERGIC-53 has been identified as the gene that causes combined deficiency of coagulation factors V and VIII, thus providing the first evidence of a cargo-specific pathway for the export of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in the cells of mammals. The ER-Golgi intermediate compartment (ERGIC) is a network of vesicular-tubular clusters involved in the transport of cargo proteins to the Golgi apparatus.
