Cloning and sequence analysis of genes encoding xylanases and acetyl xylan esterase from Streptomyces thermoviolaceus OPC-520

Article Abstract:

The DNA sequences of two types of xylanases, STX-I and STX-II, and an acetyl xylan esterase, STX-III, of Streptomyces thermoviolaceus reveal that STX-II and STX-III are grouped on the genome. Both STX-I and STX-II are attached to insoluble xylan and crystalline cellulose. A catalytic and a substrate-binding domain are present in all the three enzymes. The family II cellulose binding domains found in the C-terminal regions of STX-II and STX-III are identical.

Purification, characterization, gene cloning, and expression of a novel alcohol dehydrogenase with anti-prelog stereospecificity from Candida parapsilosis

Article Abstract:

The study describes the purification, characterization, gene cloning and expression of a new novel alcohol dehydrogenase with anti-prelog stereospecificity from Candida parapsilosis (CPADH). CPDAH can also act as a potential catalyst for the industrial application of producing chiral alcohols.

Kinetics, stereospecificity, and expression of the malolactic enzyme

Article Abstract:

Fructose, sucrose, and glucose suppress malolactic enzyme in the presence of malic acid, but stimulate the enzyme in its absence. L-malic acid increased malolactic fermentation, but the D isomer or a racemic mixture decreased enzyme activity.
