Cryptic pol II transcripts are degraded by a nuclear quality control pathway involving a new poly(A) polymerase
Article Abstract:
The silent intergenic regions in the genome of S. cerevisiae are actually transcribed by RNA polymerase II suggesting that the expressed fraction of the genome is higher than anticipated. However, RNAs originating form these regions are rapidly degraded by the combined action of the exosome and a new poly(A) polymerase activity that is defined by the Trf4 protein and one of two RNA binding proteins Air 1p or Air2p.

Genome-wide localization of the nuclear transport machinery couples transcriptional status and nuclear organization
Article Abstract:
Transcriptional regulation implicates the association of genes with the nuclear pore complex (NPC) and nuclear transport factors. The association of components including karyopherins, nuclearporins, and Ran guanine-nucleotide exchange factor (RanGEF) with the Saccharomyces cerevisiae genome of the nuclear transport machinery is examined.

A genome-wide screen identifies the evolutionarily conserved KEOPS complex as a telomere regulator
Article Abstract:
A genome-wide screen in Saccharomyces cerevisiae for suppressors of cdc13-1, an allele of the telomere capping protein Cdc13 is conducted to identify new genes involved in telomere capping. The results indicate that the KEOPS complex promotes both telomere uncapping and telomere elongation.
